The amount of food.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.1 Food selection<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To select the first ingredient, choose a category from the drop-down menu:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Herbs and spices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meat and offal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cereals and starchy foods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fruit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supplements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dairy products and eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oils and fats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pet food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vegetables and pulses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have selected the category, click in the cell to the right and select the ingredient from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udca1The VetMenu Program database contains around 180 ingredients; if you want to add a new one, follow the instructions in the next chapter.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.2 Quantity and verification<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have entered the ingredient, click in the cell to the right and enter the daily amount you intend to give.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the top right-hand corner, you will see the FEG kcal (i.e. the energy target), the calorie content of the diet (diet kcal) calculated based on the quantities of ingredients entered, and the weight of the diet in grams, with a further breakdown into moisture and dry matter.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the table below, the main nutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates, fibre, ash, calcium and phosphorus) are expressed in grams per day; % DM, g\/Mcal (where the denominator is the diet\u2019s energy content); finally, only protein, fat and carbohydrates are expressed as % ME (energy distribution of nutrients in the has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.4 Dietary variations<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two ways to create a second diet:<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blank template \u2013 a new diet from scratch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duplicate diet \u2013 a copy of the previous one.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcd8 Example: duplicate Poldo\u2019s diet, replacing chicken with salmon.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The software will automatically update the nutritional information.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.5 Nutritional analysis by food<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By clicking on the icon next to each food item, you can see how it contributes to the various nutrients.<br\/>If a value exceeds the maximum (e.g. selenium), the diet\u201d.<br\/>Select one or more diets and generate the PDF.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PDF file will be saved in the download folder specified in your browser.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The document will include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>details of the owner and the animal;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>medical history and physical
